I'll second (or third or whatever) this suggestion.
I've seen them for as little as $10 on sale without wireless, but usually recommend anyone buying one get the wireless capable one and just turn the wireless part off 'til you want it. Very little more money.
Don't worry about the wireless speed, 802.11b generally is more than enough for any home use, and far faster than your DSL line so it won't affect internet use.

I would recommend an inexpensive router - $30 or so. That will add some firewall protection, and the
ability to use either computer by itself, without
requiring the other to be "up", and also not use
resources of the other box.
I personally like having a wireless router so I can use my laptop anywhere in the house, and have both desktops (kvm switch) cabled in to the router

Dear Gurus,
I would like to share my DSL connection with another
PC running WinXP. I am currently using Ubuntu (Debian?), I have 2
Ethernet cards installed on my system. The DSL Sharing works fine when I'm
using my WinXP but when I switch to Linux, the other PC can't access
the internet (I am on a dual boot system). Do I need any special software
for this or do I just need to configure something for this to work?
Thanks and Regards, Myk -- [email protected]
