Creative cards are known to act nazi style on the PCI bus tho emu10k1 is
really well supported, I rather suspect the driver for that wifi to have a
quirk to be worked out.

I had moved the sound card around to different pci slots previously so
this time I moved both the sound card and the wireless interface card.
The wireless card to slot 4 from slot 1, the sound card to slot 1 from
slot 3. This did nothing to change the problem. Sound works fine,
newtwork card works fine, but the network just won't respond when the
sound card is active.
The irq's now look as follows;

I have been suspicious of the driver for the wifi card for some time
now. I think I will have to get my hands on a different wireless card
and try that next.
