Holy hell that's too much. I'm a vendor of Intel hardware and can build from the parts we need at cost. I believe that a pair of SATA drives in RAID1 is sufficient, the extra cost for SCSI (not just the drives, but motherboards with SCSI onboard are distinctly more expensive) is not worth it for our application.
I'll put a quote together as soon as I can and post it to the list. We should slide in south of $2k.
