Craig,

The 410 unit does clear the tack drive and oil filter. A tach transducer is
bigger than the cable and may be a clearance issue if you need to use one. I
only bring this up because you may eventually find that you will need a
transducer for your tach. Just because the P-mags have a tach output doesn't
mean you'll be able to use their output. I've been there and fought the battle
with a set of Pmags and a VM-1000 Tach display. We never were able to get a
reliable tach signal that worked all the time. Since it wasn't my plane we
were working on I wasn't able to finish the battle. The owner finally threw in
the towel and installed a TinyTach to use until he could replace the VM-1000
unit. But there was no guarantee the problem was with the VM-1000. If you
read the manual from E-mag, they provide a signal, but don't guarantee it to be
useful. We found the digital tach pulse from the Emags to be too short in
duration for the VM-1000 to read it consistently. There is no guarantee that
is will work with his next electronic display either, so I may return to this
battle again in the future. The point of this paragraph is that you may not
want to be so quick to eliminate the use of the tach drive as you might find
that you are backing yourself into a corner that may be difficult to escape.
