Guys, it's not whether a 172 will do 135 kts, 90 kts or mach 2, it's some yahoo was out there doing what he wasn't supposed to be doing. He put the listed KR pilots, then the RV pilots, in harms way because he had his head in a shadowey location. Luckily Mark saw this bozo and took action to place himself in a more favorable position.
When I hosted the KR Gathering, I held a pilot briefing going over the traffic pattern, no fly zone (above the ramp), the restricted area south of the runway, etc. The reason? Safety. I was not trying to stop anyone from having fun, just you want the local papers writing about this wonderful group of pilots and the fun they are having not showing pictures of an airplane in a pile, in the Walmart parking lot. Geez, I've been on a soapbox here lately:-) Somebody shut him up, give him a hotdog, anything. WOO HOO, looking forward to the gathering. Lake, here we come.
