This KRnet forum thing came up because every couple of months for the last
few years a debate flares up over why are we still using email to do
something that the forum could do so much better (at least that's what they
say). I figured I'd try it out and see for myself, and which way people
prefer. The forum is still under consideration, and is not a forgone
conclusion. I share most of the same concerns as Dan Heath and others. I
think it has a place, and that might be for posting pictures,
"introductions", and items "for sale".

Both KRnet and the new Forum have the same problem regarding archives, and
that is if the Maddyhome Search Engine or the Forum Search go away, me and
you have no searchable resource. As far as I'm concerned, the real archive
is the email stored on my hard drive, dating back to about 1996 (and John
Bouyea has essentially the same information). These are files that nobody
can take away from me, and I don't have to worry about disappearing some
day, and I have access to it whether my internet connection works or not.
Those of you who save all of your KRnet email have the same info, although
probably not going back quite so far.

We'll have a poll on the new forum one of these days, but I still reserve
the right to be "the decider". As Oscar likes to remind me, KRnet is not a
democracy...
