Fuel tank behind the seat is a bad idea. The C of g will change as you use
the fuel and if you crash the tank behind you is not good at all. I like a
header tank for the positive feed to the carb if the fuel pump stop. To box
the main spar with plywood on the sides will be stronger than dowels.

I have a question. The KR2S project that I recently purchased is set
up as conventional gear. If I were to remove the main gear and flip
them around onto the front of the main spar, (converting to tail
wheel), the mounting holes will not line up. My question is, will the
unused holes cause a weakening of the front spar? Should I epoxy wood
dowel rods in the holes to help restore some strength?
I really do not want to do the header tank and would like the room in
the stub wings for tanks. I had thought on just keeping the gear as is
and moving tanks out to the outer wings but am concerned with the
weight being so far out.
By the way, has anyone ever installed a fuel tank directly behind the
seat? Good or bad idea?
Thanks
Bob, Frazeysburg Ohio
