Another reason not to carry full hull insurance is that if you ever DO file a claim, you've just marked yourself as somebody who doesn't hesitate to file a claim, and insurance companies immediately shy away from such "risks". Your rates will almost certainly climb significantly, and you may even become uninsurable!

Also, if you think like I do, if you ever tear your airplane up, you'd much rather have all the left over parts to build another one than for the insurance company to haul them all away so you get to start "from scratch" to build your next one...
