I wrapped up my annual this afternoon, rolled the KR out of the hangar, and fired it up.

Items done:

- I removed my starter and left mag to install a new 30 amp B&C alternator to replace the 12 amp I've been using all these years.  Noticeable difference and working as designed.

- New brake pads.

_ standard inspection, cables , hinges, compression check, ELT, wheel bearings, etc.....

I tried to arrange for a mechanic to re-install my mag and set the timing without success so I ordered a timing light, watched some videos (not very helpful) and installed the mag and timed it myself with good results.  I came up with a cheap mans way to digitally time the mags instead of using the tin can with the swinging dial.  That tool has never impressed me much.

I purchased a relative cheap flower pot ($3.50 at Lowe's), a pack of small bungee cords, cut a small piece of wood and bolted it to the flower pot with a wing nut.  I used the bungees to attach the pot to the spinner and I taped my smart level module to the wood.

I found TDC on #1cylinder compression stroke, adjusted the module to read zero, backed the prop up to the setting I wanted for the mag and made the adjustment.  Very simple and very accurate.  If you don't have a digital level module you can use your smart phone if you trust it's accuracy.

Some of these may be duplicates and as always, your results may vary.
