My two Facet fuel pumps are installed in parallel.  My concern was that 
one pump running and the other shut off it might set up a continuous 
circular flow backwards from the "on" pump through the "off" pump and 
back to the intake of the "on" pump with no fuel going to the carb.  
Before installing the pumps I hooked them up head to head and tried to 
pump backwards through each pump.  Zero fuel flow so I eliminated the 
planned check valve.  To date, 15 years and 700+ hours, the system is 
working fine and any time above pattern altitude I only run one pump.
