We did a second W&B after the builder installed 20 inch tires for more
prop clearance. 20 inch tires on a "Cruzer"? What's not right about
this picture? I watched a video that John B. sent to me and it took
that Cruzer 12 seconds to break ground. I'm guessing he didn't have a
130hp Honda up front. I was off the ground in three or four seconds. I
also noticed in the video that the pilot hardly ever moved the stick in
pitch. I was probably, I know I was, over controlling on takeoff.
After the flight I told the builder, with only 250 hours in Cessna's,
that he attempted to go from a childhood pony to a rodeo bronc without
the benefit of experiencing a quarter horse in between. I can see why
he pranged the nose gear. I told him we'd either conquer the beast or
send it to the glue factory.
