20+ years ago I found a fitting that I simply glassed in to the tank for
a hose compression fitting. Like you, I found nothing similar
available today. A suggestion similar to what Mark suggested but with
much less work would be to purchase a fitting similar to the following
and have someone weld it to a square or circular piece of aluminum, or
the proper material, drill a number of small holes in the plate for
better bonding, and glass it in to the tank. For flexible hose fitting
simply use a metal barb fitting welded to a plate.
