New Hoverhawk Propeller (54x49L) test flight 4/29/2025, Time: 9:25 am, Temp 55 deg F
Static rpm indicated at start of takeoff roll - 3200 rpm. Pulled throttle back during climb out to maintain at or below 3300 rpm indicated. Did not go full throttle again. Takeoff and climb out - very good performance. Leveled out for cruise. Adjusted throttle to achieve 130 mph indicated cruise speed. RPM indicated is 3200 rpm. Propeller felt smoother that previous props. Probably due to dynamic balancing just completed on the Dynavibe. Results. Good but want to confirm Tach RPMs. I will buy a new Tachometer next to confirm RPMs. From the Dynavibe testing, the old Westach Tach may be indicating approximately 200 rpm high. I'll resolve this before proceeding with full throttle testing. Griff, Hoping for the same type of performance, but obviously the pitch is different. I discussed it with the manufacturer over the phone. He is pretty sure the 49 pitch is what I need. I've always heard that the different Propeller manufacturers have a slightly different method of measuring the pitch. I am hoping to get the same exact performance as I had with the Sterba. I can't see much difference visually on the shape. The Hoverhawk uses a clear coat varnish, white tips, the urethane leading edge is black. The Sterba just had some stain with its varnish.
