At this point, I'm not sure if it's a desired behavior on the part of vpnc or not. In the meantime, users that run into this problem may want to be a little less bleeding edge than Ubuntu. I have entered extra comments on a bug report in Launchpad ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vpnc/+bug/214399). Cheers, Rob
