Thanks for the info on the serial number...makes sense. As to the Dash 5 upgrade, if there were enough changes it would be worth it, but so far I don't see any significant improvements. Perhaps the Dash 6 or Dash 7 will eventually make such an upgrade necessary. Also, hopefully the CPU board can be purchased so we can do the work in house (we certainly have the skills) rather than a more costly and time-intensive outsourced upgrade. I thought about using Extension Groups, but you're exactly right about my problem. I have some users that need to be able to answer calls from more than one group. Since each phone can only be in one group it doesn't help me. We're a small company, so we basically all have to serve multiple roles...sales, customer/tech support, etc. To make matters worse, I want us to be able to determine if a sales call came in on our main number, on a new number we're planning to use for a special project, or on the 800 number. Each DID routing entry allows you to not only assign a day and night destination, but also a name. So, I thought I could just route them all to the same extension group, and that the system would show on the display this DID name. Unfortunately, I can't seem to determine how to ever get that DID name to show up! If I could at least get it on the LCD displays I could live without sending the calls to specific buttons. Ideas? Ans since it was a -2 originally you must get the CPU upgrade. It would have to been made in 2001, or "1A" to just take the chip change. The reason the change is due to using different EPROM's on the newer units. The older CPU boards used smaller EPROM's. I have the same situation here a -2 that was upraded to a -4. I'm staying put with what I have, there are not enough changes to warrant a switch out for me. If I was doing heavy UCD work, then maybe. Also, have you used extension groups 191, 192, etc. to try to route the DID calls to groups of extensions? That may help you with specific groups like tech support, etc. But if a phone has to be used for two types of calls, then you're S.O.L., since they can only be in one ext. group.
