I don't know what you have against Ablecomm, but I hardly think that blaming
them for your lack of skill as a phoneman is warranted.

A nice thing about this forum is that the rep you talked to from Ablecomm is
a list member and is able to respond. I realize its your word against his,
so let me document my reasoning here for deciding that your claims, sir, are
not credible.

Mike Marcus has been a list member for a long time, and I've seen him try to
help people many times, and he sure seems sincere to me. Ablecomm even takes
the time to create, publish and maintain a helpful website. They sent you an
loaner voicemail to use why your's went to Pana repair under warranty, based
on YOUR info. Do you deny this?

OTOH, you come out of nowhere and start berating your vendor because they
weren't able to figure out the problem *yet*. Nevermind the fact that you
advised them INCORRECTLY that nothing else was attached to the line in
question.

Now I ask, who should I believe?

Most of us that figured it was an alarm learned it the hard way (believe me)
early in our careers, but I doubt most of us started cussing our vendor for
faulty equipment before we figured it out.

| Man, you guys rock. It was totally the Alarm System causing the problems.
| I have spent countless hours trying to figure this one out and nobody was
| able to solve it.
|
| Regarding the old prompts, I have no solution as of yet, no idea why there
| is no TONE to leave a message. All I can think of is that Ablecomm sent
me
| a garbage reconditioned unit. Their service sucks!

|
| The sequence you describe is often the signal for the security alarm modem

| to answer the call. Ringing 10 or so times will also do it.
|
| I am interested in your last post about "old prompts". Any more info?
|
| Write me if you need more.
