It's unlikely that the clock is sinced to the line. If the power supply
is analog with a conventional iron core transformer it may have a
tendency to over heat. In some cases the transformer may be designed for
the Japanese market which is a mix of voltages and frequencys. in this
case it may actually be rated for 50/60 Hz but be marked 60 Hz for the US
market. The lower the operating frequency the more iron is required  for
efficient operation. I had just this problem many years ago when I lived
in Morocco which is 120 V 50 Hz. residential power.
 One solution would be to acquire a replacement 50 Hz power supply
locally, or install a switcher now.
