I have the same complaint (my system is a KX-TD308, and your message prompted me to look back at the documentation. The only mention that I see is in the section on answering calls, where it says, "You can also answer the call by pulling out the handset from the charging stand." Looking at the various features that can be enabled/disabled on the handset, I don't see anything that suggests this is a settable behavior.
