This is a good point, I wonder if anyone knows if anyone makes a "box" that can somehow signal the Key system
that the line is in use so the line won't be picked when a station user dials "9" ?
I currently have a KXTD that has two lines that are in a different group so they won't be picked by a dial 9,
these lines are only used a small percentage of the time, BUT are often used at the same time.
It would be nice if I could use these lines for "out" calls .

Yes, this is true.



There is almost no reason to put anything ahead of the TD.



I can give several examples of how this can be useful -
Modems that don't like Analog/Digital conversions
Devices that understand distinctive ring
Caller ID logging devices (although this is passive and generally works fine)
