In a typical suburban environment, we had perfect communications to about 500 feet from the base, and usable communications (some ticking noise) from about 500 feet to about 550 feet. The transmitting base was located on the second floor of a wood-frame house, and the signal passed through one exterior wall with vinyl siding, about 30 feet from the base.
Indoors, we were able to go two floors down, and about 60 feet horizontally (to the limit of the building). Weather conditions: sunny, 45 degrees F., 50% humidity, 10 MPH wind. We tested a KX-TD7895 in the same place at the same time, and its range was about 100 feet worse. The 7896 did not cause any interference with a 2.4GHz wireless network router, or receive interference from the router. A microwave oven caused interference at about 5 feet from the handset.
