The general rule that you can omit the "~" character in your
translations still holds, but there are 12 words where the "~" character
should be kept or the top-level menu items will not have
mnemonics/accelerators. You should check them as soon as possible in Pootle.
Below you find direct links to Pootle for these 12 strings for your
language (just scroll down...). In these 12 cases, you should manually
put a "~" within the string if it's not there yet and make sure the
mnemonic you choose (i.e., the character after "~") is unique across the
12 strings.
Example, in Italian: one of the strings is translated as "Formato" and
another one as "Finestra". I can't put "~Formato" and "~Finestra" since
this would be a conflict (both would use "F"), so I put "~Formato" and
"Fi~nestra" (then "Formato" uses "F", "Finestra" uses "N").
Note that I already ran the checks on the SDF files we have, but they
are not fully up-to-date; many languages (Korean, French, German, EN-GB,
now also Italian and Spanish) seem to be already OK, but you should have
a look. When done, please post a comment here or (better) on this issue,
where you can find more information:
