I tried to upload again the extension on the OO website. But I got an error message when I was asked to confirm the release creation. It was: “Le site Web a rencontré une erreur inattendue. I tried to download your 4.11 file, change the extension ID appending a ".test" to it, change the filename to dict-fr-test.oxt and upload it as if it was a release of the Italian dictionary, one of the extensions I maintain, and everything worked (stupidity of this test aside; I should have created a dummy extension, even though I kept the release unpublished so it's not shown).
Coexistence is a problem. But when users update AOO, old files are removed, right? So why the dictionary 4.2 would be still here?
If users choose to keep their personal settings, dictionaries are carried over too.
That’s why the old dictionary has to be removed.
Is a "killer update" to the old dictionary an option? You just provide a dummy .dic and .aff (or actually, nothing at all; I didn't try) as update of your old dictionaries. Then, over the days, all users receive the update notification, and there you must explain to them that a new dictionary is available and should be downloaded.
If a workflow like this can work, then we can include the new dictionary in 4.0.1.
For a long time, there were 4 dictionary extensions (“modern”, “classic”, “reform”, “all variants”) and Grammalecte ... Now, it’s simpler. There is two extensions: - Grammalecte, with the 4 spelling dictionaries included, - the 4 spelling dictionaries without Grammalecte.
This is a great improvement. I'd like to get it in 4.0.1 if we find a way to properly retire the old one.
