Well, it seems that in the end neither of the approaches worked: there
is some progress in Pootle https://translate.apache.org/da/aoo40/ but we
won't have OpenOffice 4.0 or 4.0.1 in Danish.
Is there some targeted advertisement (like, contacting Universities) we
could do about this? We have a few languages (and Danish is the most
requested one so far) available in 3.4.1 but not in 4.0.x, and these
should be given priority.
