Hi, me too, I am back....
Here is what I have done.
I took all the PO files from teh VNLUG website
(http://www.vnlug.org/viooo/trunk/). As the last build that I saw the
website was 104, I assumed that the files belonged to m104. I upgraded
the files to m162, a version posterior to the string freeze of 2.0.3.
Used the translate toolkit pot2po
Nam, are these the files that you mention are updated until m120?, if
so, we do not have to do anything, but if they are not, then please tell
me where are the most modern ones, and I will repeat the process with those.
There is still one more step that I want to take. Somewhere before m162,
an number of original strings were changed (somebody added a period at
the end of sentences that did not have a period and were supposed to
have one. When I upgraded, pot2po did not detect these strings as being
the same one that had been translated before, so I want to use
translation memory to add these translations to the new files, to reduce
the number of unstranslated messages... and I am going to try to do this
right now.... done
from 3.700 messages missing, we not have 2.705 unstranslated + 1.003
Fuzzy (probably correct).
Most of the stuff in:
officecfg\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office.po
must not be translated, as they are database tags, and can only use
latin characters (555 messages), but please look through.
This means that 2.150 messages need to be translated, and 1,003 checked.
I am sure that out of the 2.150 there are many strings that do not need
to be translated, as Sam has done a very good job not translating what
does not need to be translated. Nevertheless, I would recommend that,
for messages that do not need to be translated, the source string is
copied to the target, so that the statistics are correct and we do not
keep looking into files that have messages that do not to be translated.
This was not important when there was only one translator, but it
becomes important when there is a group of people working on them (to
avoid have people who do not understand so well translate things that do
not need to be translated).

Chúng ta cũng có thể tiếp tục thiết lập thủ tục phát hành bản dịch
hoàn toàn: xin tiền hỗ trợ, quyết định cách mua và ghi các đĩa CD,
cách phát hành, tăng, hỗ trợ người dùng các đĩa đó. Chúng ta có thể
nói chuyện với mọi người hay nhóm (nhóm người dùng Linux [LUG],
trường, mạng kinh doanh, tiến trình liên lạc của chính phủ) để chuẩn
bị thủ tục phát hành và chạy một chiến dịch nâng cao nhận thức của
công chúng về các lợi ích của và khả năng lấy sớm bản dịch OOo trên
đĩa CD. Vui lòng bắt đầu làm các tác vụ này, thảo luận ở đây, và
thông báo chúng tôi biết mỗi kết quả.
Tôi rất thích nói chuyện bằng tiếng Việt hơn tiếng Anh, và đã thảo
luận trường hợp này với Javier: chúng tôi đã quyết định chỉ cần phải
nói chuyện bằng tiếng Anh khi nói chuyện trực tiếp với Javier hay
Jean- Christophe. Vì họ cần đọc thư này, tôi cũng đã dịch sang tiếng
Anh, nhưng sau này, chúng ta có thể nói chuyện bằng tiếng Việt suốt.
(Nếu bạn gặp khó khăn trong việc đọc hay viết tiếng Việt, gởi thư cho
tôi nhé.) Sự dùng ngôn ngữ mình sẽ giúp đỡ sự đóng góp của các người
trong nhóm Việt hoá : sự dịch nhiều chuỗi từ tiếng Việt là một tác vụ
rất có thể, nhưng mà trường hợp đọc và viết nhiều thư phức tạp bằng
tiếng Anh là quá khó.
Mong muốn chúng ta cũng có thể bắt đầu cập nhật nơi Mạng chính thức
của Dự án Việt hoá OpenOffice.org: nhờ Nam diễn tả cách đúng và cung
cấp truy cập.

Hi everyone :)
Unfortunately, for the last day or so, I haven't had time to
partipate in this list. Today I've got time to read my email, and I
notice one from Javier, saying he doesn't have time to update the
files right now. We don't seem to be doing too well with time to set
things up.
Hopefully, next week Javier will have time to update all the OOo
translation files. One or two weeks after that, Pootle will be ready,
and I'll be able to upload all the OOo translation files to Pootle,
and configure Pootle for your project. Then we'll be able to translate!
Meanwhile, if you want to start translating anyway, please email me,
and I'll send you a file or two to review and update. There's always
something that needs doing.
We can also keep on setting things up to distribute the completed
translation: apply for funding, decide how to purchase and stamp the
CDs, how to distribute, donate and encourage people to use those CDs.
We can talk to all the people or groups (like Linux User Groups
[LUGs], schools and universities, business networks and government
communication processes) to prepare the ground for CD distribution,
and run a public-awareness campaign about the usefulness and upcoming
availability of the translation on CD. Please start performing these
tasks, and report back on the results.
I really prefer to use talk in Vietnamese, instead of English, and
I've talked to Javier about this: we think the only time we need to
use English is when someone is talking directly to Javier or Jean-
Christophe. Since they need to read this mail, I've also translated
it into English, but after this, we can just talk in Vietnamese. (If
you have any trouble reading or writing Vietnamese, please tell me.)
Using Vietnamese will encourage participation from my Vietnamese
localization team: it's all very well to translate a lot of English
strings, but reading and writing so many complex mails in Engish is
too much.
Hopefully we can also update the official OOo Vietnamese localization
site: we're waiting on Nam to explain how that's done, and to provide
access.
