So I am basically interested in making Windows XP clients compress data when connecting to L2TPD/SuperFreeSwan 1.99 and I also want that the (stupid) clients actually see that there is compression. When connecting with the XP client to a Win2k RRAS server over PPTP there is MPPC compression which seems to work fine. Is it absolutely necessary to recompile the kernel, for a WinXP client to achieve compression with a L2TPD/SuperFreeSwan server? Both deflate and bsdcomp didn't work and nothing shown up in Linux logs.. I think I will just end up in recmopiling the kernel with MPPC support and also using pppd 2.4.2.. :)
