Having too much drawn out will cause crashes. Also too many entities (report_entities) will cause crashes (limit is somewhere under 1600 to be safe side). One thing that could be it is that if you have a moving prop, doesn't matter if it has disabled movement on it's settings but if it's inside the ground or wall, even if the prop itself isn't, but the surrounding collision model is, it might cause a crash. There's atleast one wheelbarrow in CS Source that can cause this to happen. I'm not sure if L4D series use any similiar props.
