SCAF Labor Collective Meeting 8/7/05 2:00pm at 33 1/3 Books (On the corner of Sunset and Alvarado in Echo Park) Come and be a part of forming a new collective focusing on grassroots labor organizing in Los Angeles. Some of the ideas for the collective are:
-Support local labor struggles and create relationships with workers organizations in LA -Study how anarchists (and others) have organized at work in the past/ present. -Work with workers who are typically ignored by organized labor, ie: domestic workers (Nannies and House Maids), Immigrants, Day Laborers, and the unemployed. -Provide trainings on workplace organizing -Create A Team (SCAF Strike Support) to walk picket lines and support labor actions. -Begin using more militant tactics to support labor struggles. -Challenge sexism, racism, and homophobia within the labor movement. This is just the beginning, bring your own ideas and experiences. We are building something new and invite anyone who is interested in building a radical, grassroots movement of workers to come and participate. Algunas de las ideas del colectivo son: -Apoyar a las luchas de trabajadores y formar relaciones con organizaciones de trabajadores en L.A. -Trabajar con los sectores que son tipicamente olvidados por los sindicatos como por ejemplo: los trabajadoras/er domesticas, imigrantes, jornaleros y los desempleados. -Hacer entranamientos sobre como organizar en el lugar de trabajo. -Formar un equipo que pueda apoyar en las huelgas y ayudar en aciones de trabajadores. -Empezar a utilizar tacticas mas militantes en el trabajo y para apoyar luchas de trabajadores. - Confrontar el sexismo, el racismo, y la homofobia en movamiento laboral.
