Every bit helps, thanks! She is so hungry but those pups eat non stop LOL!
Goliath (my giant) is first to the tit and last off. The black ones are
getting pretty wavy/curly already...so cute.
We gave up the swimming pool, it was large but I could see they'd scale
the side pretty quickly and so I have converted a large closet 8'x30"
...put plastic sheeting on the floor, covered it with plywood and then
put up a wall to keep them in. It is easy for Ariel to get in and out,
but now the 10 pups have more than enough room and can't get out. I put
a blanket down for now then later will put puppy pads on one side. This
should work for the duration. They are so beautiful. Dark wavy, shiny
coats on the black ones, and the yellows (more like 1 off white and 1
Latte) males while when first born looked a little wavy, are now
looking more smooth. It will be neat to see how they develop.
All their eyes are open and they have all started barking or yelping
when hungry...which was quite unexpected last nite when I jumped from
bed thinking one was getting squashed only to find it barking for mom to
come feed...suddenly they all were doing it...cute as can be. I hope I
am not boring you seasoned breeders, but this is my first litter and I
am in awe. I also am trying to be as descriptive as possible for our non
seeing members. I am trying to pet them to get them used to human touch
and have let the kids pet them (after hand sanitizer) and get them used
to kids. David (the little yellow) is the most lovable one, who will
lay in the kids hands and just go to sleep or lie there happily. They
are definitely getting their share of Christian rock, cartoon network
and the Cosby show!
Can I ask a silly question? How do the mom's act when you sell the
pups...are they by then breaking the bond, or do they just suffer
through or just roll with it? I want Ariel to be happy too. Someone
said the moms don't like or are jealous of the pups as they grow older.
I am wondering what y'all s experience has been in that regard. Also, is
4 weeks the soonest you should introduce puppy food, and did y'all wait
till the worming was done (my vet does worming at 4 weeks and again at 6
weeks with their first shots).
Thanks,
Carla
