You are not crazy, time is important, not a big yard and exercise. If big dogs
needed big yards and exercise, then there'd be lots of assistance dog users in
big cities who wouldn't be doing the right thing, according to your mom. I
don't know how old you are, but time is important. Also, if you are a student,
think about things that might occur down the road, apartment buildings that
won't allow dogs, boyfriends who don't like them, a job where you travel a lot
and a job where you can't spend as much time as you'd need to spend with your
dog.
