Carol,
Thank you for your email. He never gets human food - EVER. For as long as I can help it, he's not going to know human food exists.
The trainer said to put his food down and within 5 minutes if he hasn't eaten it, take it away. I did that one day while I was working from home, but he started puking bile and I caved and sat in the room to make SURE he ate his food.
He will eat if we are in the room but the minute we leave, he doesn't want to be alone and freaks out and won't eat. If we leave the food there long enough, he will eventually eat it out of desperation.
Do I pick up his food and treat him a few "hard" lessons over a few days? Or is that cruel and should I just leave his food there for him to eat when he wants?
Thanks for the advice
:-)
Kristan

Are you giving him anything 'other" than his food...ie table scraps??? If not, he will eat when he is hungrey. I like to leave dry food down and my dogs nibble and eat when hungrey instead of gorging at one time. If you think it's a puppy vs adult dog food issue trasition him to adult chow by cutting a 1/3 into his meal slowly.I feed Nutro ultra, my dogs love it..it is pricey though........but I don't add any vit's or suppliments as its all self contained. They also have a large breed puppy formula which I like...........good luck,CarolSouthern Charm Labradoodles/GA

last few days he's decided he doesn't want it. When do I know if the
food is a behavioral issue (just being stubborn) or a physical issue
(he just doesn't like it). ??
Thanks,
