I have a small plastic airline crate where my puppies spend their first few nights. I actually put it in the bed with me, with the wire door facing me. That way the puppy can see and hear and smell me. If they cry during the night, it is just a matter of poking my fingers through the mesh door to let them know that I am near. Granted, I'm not married, so the other side of my queen size bed is vacant. But you could easily do the same thing by just putting the crate by the side of your bed. You could even put it on something to raise the crate to the bed level.
These guys are bred to be with people. It doesn't take them long to realize that things are going to be okay, even without their littermates. They just want to be sure that someone is near. Within a week, the puppies have moved to the larger crate in the corner of my bedroom.

Our Labradoodle did the same thing for about 3 nights in a row. We put him in the laundry room and started a load of wash, it seemed to work. We also wore him out before bed by taking a walk and playing and making sure he went potty.<image.tiff>
