Silvering is from the poodle - they are born black but by about 8 weeks old
you will see the hair around the eyes and muzzle starting to grow in light
gray. They change to fully silver over a couple months. In the poodle an
experienced breeder can tell from birth by the coloration of the hair
between the pads of the feet which ones are most likely to turn silver.
The white hairs mixed in through the body is called grizzle - it appears
over the course of a few years - more noticeable after the initial puppy
coat changes. It can be a few hairs to perhaps 50% of the coat.
