At 7.30pm I swithed on the TV to watch a programme about Thomas Hardy . On his death most of his personal papers were destroyed at his request, but one notebook survived. This programme was to be about what it showed about the way he researched for his books.
But what was on instead - football (soccer)! The evening's output has been cancelled until 9.15 to make way for a game of football. Wonderful!! As far as I know they haven't announced when the Hardy programme will now be shown. I've emailed my complaint, as I always do when this happens (quite frequently during the football season), but I know that all I'll get is a standard reply on how big the football audience is and how much they spend on getting the licences to show the games, so they have to take every opportunity to show them. Is there ever a craft programme of any kind? Of course not. No-one's interested in that! Jean in a Poole that's cooled down to the extent that I actually felt chilly an hour of so ago.
