I went to London yesterday, when I purchased my train ticket at our local station I was told that I could use the underground or the buses. Grandson and I were near Warren St Station saw a bus on the front it said Oxford Street, we jumped on it, in no time we were where we wanted to be near London Palladium, oh so much quicker than the underground. First we saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Palladium, you come straight out and to your left is Liberty's. We did pop into Liberty's explained the history of Liberty's to my grandson who then went around inside of the store feeling the wood. Then I had to take GS just round the corner to Hamleys toy store, after that we walked down to Piccadilly Circus turned right so we could go to Fortnum & Masons, just too late for tea<G>
Just a couple of weeks ago I went to John Lewis, Oxford Street to buy material to make a summer dress, the selection was poor, but the pattern department was excellent, most helpful too. I then was told by a customer to go to Berwick Street, found a few shops there and even some lovely material to make a dress and not too expensive either. If for any reason you are passing Kensington Palace and you would like the thin book on the Royal Wedding Dresses you can go into the shop they have and buy the book you don't have to pay to go to the exhibition if you don't want to. There is the Orangery at the back of Kensington Palace if anyone wants afternoon tea, rather a pleasant place to sit whilst having afternoon tea and watching the world go by including the squirrels.
