I don't mind hearing about weather in other parts at all. Through this list,
I've finally got used to the idea that it might be a scorcher here, but
could be snowing in Australia. Never really thought about it before.

Last summer we had record high temperatures and a summer that seemed to go
on forever. This summer's more like our usual one - what seems like one day
of sun followed by five of rain. It isn't really, but because it's summer we
forget the warm, dry expected days and remember the wet cold ones.

DH is particularly bad at that. Although he's 65 he's just bought his third
and most expensive mountain bike. Not that he rides on mountains, it's just
that it's got front fork suspension and suspension in the frame so it's vey
comfortable, and this one is very light (not on the pocket though) so he can
use his energy moving himself rather than the bike as well. Every fine day
that's fine throughout the year he's out in the morning and cycles about 25
miles with a break in the middle. He meets up with a group of similar aged
men at a coffee stall on the cliffs (must be a bit like "Last of the Summer
Wine"). He's been out most days, but on each of the few days it's too wet or
cold or windy or any combination of those when he hasn't been able to get
out, he says we're not getting much of a summer - forgets he's been spending
a lot of time watering the garden and has been moaning about not getting
enough rain so he doesn't have to do it.
