For items like this I use superfine fishing line/leader line. It is
NOT the same stuff that they sell in the fabric stores as clear thead.
If you get the really fine stuff (3-4 lb test) it works really well
for sewing and doesn't pull out as easily at the clear thread. My
roommate uses it for her beading and it really has a lot of
flexiblity. I do find however that if I warm the end of the thread and
melt it just a tiny bit at the seam line it holds a lot better.
