Invisible mends are posssible if you are very careful. On linen you should use linen thread the smallest you can find. Then check the color against the original linen If its too white you should darken it just a little with a dark tea or a few crystles of instant coffee. I know some would not agree with me, but that is sometimes the only way you can get a good match. If it were lace I would not use the tea or coffee, but for linen fabric it probably necessary.Using the weave of the linen, you should follow one thread through the hole then backtrack on the next thread. When these are fully covered, you should carefully do the cross stitch of each thread so the other threads are fully laid down. If you can't find linen I can only caution you to use a fine cotton thread. In any case do not pull the thread tight. When it is laundered again the thread will shrink just a bit, pull on the fabric and cause another spot to miss. I have mended many things over the years and while jeans will show,,I don't take such care for this. Roslyn in Austin [EMAIL PROTECTED]
