A few years ago I got a Thread Guide wheel showing grid sizes and suitable
threads from the UK Lace Guild stand at a lace day, but haven't seen one
since.

Chapter 7 of 'Introduction t Bobbin Lacemaking' (mostly torchon) by
Rosemary Shepherd is entitled 'Graph Paper, Thread and Pattern Making' and
includes a very useful table of Mesh/grid sizes (showing dots on actual
graph paper in different sizes and orientations) and suitable threads to go
with each grid size.
