An advisory to people interested in this colored lace. There are two books,
by two authors whose surnames both begin with "B", published in France one
year apart. The titles are similar. [...]

That's the one I have -- the other wasn't even in the running... :) If it has no prickings/technique tips *and* no English, it's of no use to me at all; my French is non-existent (well, I *was* told by my U teacher *not* to try using it, so why bother learning it?), and my interest in *strictly* "drool factor" books is limited. I want to learn new things, but my area of interest is practical, to the point of being utilitarian.
There is a color photo of the iris fan on page 32. The only fan pricking/pattern is on page 92. It is floral, but not the iris. Translation does not say what flower it is,
and I am not a flower expert.
A really good colour photo of it is on p.91 (also a sepia one of the original drawing?) The title of that page is "Les jardins nous attendent" (the gardens we visit? have visited?) but that's not translated either. The caption to the picture on p 93 -- Gaelle (with 2 dots over the first e and not translated) -- I take to be the name of the model, since the face and the fan take up about equal space :) The flowers look to me like Sweet Pea -- particularly in the drawing -- but I'm not a flower expert either... <g> If it *is* Sweet Pea though, then the colours used are all wrong -- my father used to grow SP in his little plot, and *none* were pure blue :)
It's just as well fans "leave me cold" where the making of them is concerned... :) OTOH, a single "medalion" from the fan might make a nice project, after I've taken the class in October... Oh, *drat!* Jeri, I *so* wish you hadn't brought it to my attention; like I didn't have enough ideas already, and nowhere near enough time to "translate" them...
