I've loved working with silk thread in the past, and as I mainly do Beds lace, the only annoying thing I've found is that it tends to be "clingy" when retro-lacing (ie undoing work) - especially leaves. It can be very much softer than cotton, but sometimes a piece of lace in a lovely fine cotton can look just a lovely.
I've done a couple of piece in a raw silk (equivalent of about a 50 retors I think I figured it out), and an edging for my wedding dress in a 140/2 silk with a tighter twist, that came from Mulberry Silks, in the UK - and that one was REALLY nice to work with, as it wasn't as "hairy" as the raw silk when it came to working with it. The piece I made for my dress came up GORGEOUS! I covet my 2 spools of that thread! :-) Cheers, Helen, Aussie living in gorgoeus Denver (Go the Collywobbles in the AFL Grandfinal!) - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
