Sorry about the lateness of this thread. When I prick a pattern, I use 2-3 sheets of wax paper under my pattern and prick into a thick phone book. It has worked the best for me so far, I experience less fatigue when pricking large point ground patterns. I have not had problems with ink on my lace. (A concern I had in the beginning.)
