Lynn, I really like the book "The Torchon Lace Book by Bridget M. Cook". I do not know if you are interested in a book on TORCHON lace or not. I like this book for beginners especially if they are not near help. It has patterns in the front that teach technique and are very explanatory, and in the back they have projects that use the techniques that you have learned in the front. The projects progress in difficulty. I would look on Amazon.com also Half.com for books at a lower price.
