ARGH. I see that the jdbgmgr.exe hoax has resurfaced and got past my filters
because it wasn't in the header. Please do not post vi*rus (I'm spelling it
this way deliberately) warnings without checking with me or with Symantec.
No matter how reliable the source, people do get taken in by these things,
so even if your DH or SIL or DD is also your computer guru, don't pass it
on!

On another note... some of you have noticed that you're receiving genuine
vi*ruses addressed to lace-digest-outgoing. What it means is that someone
has
the Netsky vi*rus and is not taking care of it. Lace-digest-outgoing is an
admin address that can't be blocked by normal means, so it's open to
anything that someone sends to it. Someone is infected (could be a present
Arachne or someone who joined and left the list) and happens to have this
address in their addressbook. Liz is looking into a way to block this
address, but at the moment there's nothing we can do about it.

Moral of story: Install an antivi*rus program. Download your vi*rus
definitions. Keep them up to date. Don't assume that because "everyone else
has antivi*rus software," you don't need to. That might have worked with
smallpox immunizations but it doesn't work in the computer world! If you
don't
protect your computer, sooner or later you will be sorry.

If you need clarification or advice please e-mail me privately. Thanks.

Best wishes,

Avital
