If it wasn�t for the internet and other peoples homepages, both "private" and commercial I would still be making swedish lace. That is not "bad" lace but mostly torchon and I don�t think I would still be making lace at all if it was not for the inspiration from the lists arachne and bobbinlace and pictures of lace. There are only a few swedish lace books to borrow at the library and the Swedish Lace Guild does NOT at all encourage you to make ANY other kind of lace, theirs is the one and only. I recently saw a picture of the Colgan milanese butterfly made by someone on the list and I would not have known about it and gotten the book without that picture. If copyright is so "stupid" it should be changed somehow. If I had designed and sold a lace pattern I would be proud if someone made it and showed it, and telling who had made the design too of course. A lace teacher I have "found" and taken classes for the last years, she also designs patterns, told me that if I put a picture of a pattern I had laced on a web page and also told who had designed it it was considered as good PR for the designer as more people would know that she (or he) was around.
