I'll add another comment to Tamara's and Jacquie's. Wool, even ring- shawl weight, is usually a whole lot fuzzier than threads normally used for bobbin, needle, or shuttle laces. This will greatly affect your ability to move the threads past each other. It is that much harder to accurately tension, never mind trying to undo a mistake. I've seen shawl patterns using fingering-weight or sport-weight wool yarn, but don't recommend trying to do BL with superfine wool thread.
