I know, I know....it wasn't really a complaint, but it was the ONLY comment I heard other than "great food". I thought it was amusing to be the most serious remark made. The food staff apologized and said they just forgot to set it out. It was right there in the counter under the hot cereal. It was out the rest of the time -- both plain and sugared. I wanted to add that attendees also received 2 spools of gimp thread, wood handled stick pin and note cards with tatted flowers. That's what LeAnn missed when she was trying to remember it all. PLS thanks everyone who donated the goodies. We were directly responsible for 4 of the favors. The others came in from many other sources. We were amazed at how generous people are. The bobbin maker who sent us a Shop In a Box also sent a stick pin for every person. That's *many* hours of turning wood. If I start trying to name every person or group who contributed, I would miss someone -- so just a big "Thanks" to all of you from BC to California to South Carolina. I hope each person found something in the assortment that was of use to him or her....and will pass on to someone else the other items. > The table centerpieces were upright wooden frames > with linen bobbin lace > with paper string flowers (Alice can explain better) > in many colors and > styles. These were the flower pictures in the Kortelahti book, Lace with Paper Strings. They were framed in wire (sorry LeAnn, not wood) with a wood base. (My DH made the frames and bases. Much thanks to him!!!!!) A box was provided with each for safe transport. I didn't find any centerpieces in the trash afterwards, so they must have been liked. <G> I took the beginning needlelace class with Nancy > Evans (and Alice and Bev), Yes, I ventured away from bobbins to Needlelace for the first time. I got to spend about 2/3 of the time in class so I didn't make as much progress as the rest of the people. I only got two petals mostly done. The flower has 8 petals so I have much to do yet. My conference Wind-down Class went well. I'm making progress on the UFO from last year's class. It was relaxing to be at the pillow without responsibilities of the conference on my mind. I have to brag..... I won the Lace in Bloom Theme contest with my bouquet of a dozen long-stemmed lace roses!!!!! I was mightily surprised! Now I'm going to relax with a book, and a cat on my lap, for a while. Then I can get back to normal life. Alice in Oregon -- who just mailed in her IOLI table ribbon entry. You have three more days.
