As a US vendor at the convention I will accept any kind of currency {grin}. But most of the vendors will be
Canadian and will want only Canadian dollars. It is a foreign country to us Americans so their currency must
be used. When traveling I have the easiest method is to use a bank ATM to get local currency and purchase by
credit card. Most ATM's accept Cirrus so check your card back for a logo or contact the card company. Then
check the ATM that you are using. Put in your pin number and money pops out. Local bank cards work the same.
Most of the vendors at convention will be small companies and will not be able to accept credit cards. I do
accept them and card charge transactions will be done in US dollars. But that is only me, not everyone.
Right now the Canadian dollar is about $0.88 to the US dollar. That may change on a daily basis. So just
think of the 'Loony' as a $0.88 coin and the 'Twoony' as $1.65 coin and enjoy.

Dear Spiders travelling to Montreal,
I'm not sure what kind of exchange rate you will get at the airport but most of those services have a fee
associated with them. You should check the conditions of your debit card. I made a purchase last week in
Canada with my debit card and the rate was great and we didn't get charged a fee for it, whereas if I had
used our credit card we wouldn't have gotten anywhere near as good a rate and there would have been a fee
included in the exchange as well. I think we are only allowed a couple of these a month before fees are
added. It may be worth using an ATM once you get to Montreal and making a large withdrawal to cover day to
day expenses.
Have fun in Montreal,
