It has been quiet lately. My latest project is to tackle the Pythagoras tree in the book Kant uit Vlaanderen en's Gravenmoer. Has anyone else done this? There are few directions, and I find that to keep to the just 10 pairs of gimps noted, I have had to use a "magic thread" to get around some tricky parts. But so far, so good. I've also used a stranded gimp, so when the gimps come together towards the trunk, I can gradually throw out a pair or two one thread at a time.
My other large almost-completed project is a tape lace centre about 40 cm in diameter. I have used the square Belgian style bobbins for this, and they are ideal - I only needed 9 pair, and they don't roll about. 5 pair are plain wood, but the other four pair my husband turned for me out of the acrylic blanks turners use to make pen bodies out of, in lovely marbled colours, and I love them. My third continuing project is to make several bookmarks from Pat Milne's "Orange Blossom Lace" to have on hand as gifts. They look so pretty Noelene in Cooma Suffering from Spring hayfever at the moment, so mainly doing the tape lace as my eyes keep watering.
