Jean, you are probably correct in your assumption that ebay will do nothing I had a similar experience when I purchased a lace book and when it arrived it absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke that has taken weeks to rid, I gave the seller a negative feedback because of this and he responded by abusively telling me if I did not withdraw it he would give me a negative, I took this as a threat because I paid promptly and he had no reason whatsoever to give me a negative, I complained to ebay and got the exact same answer (must be one that they keep on file for all complaints) as far as I can see they did nothing about it because the negative that he gave me is still on my feedback file and I think that was just to appease me into thinking they had any intention of doing something about abusive threats.
