Thanks. Didn't know that; always a good day when you learn something new :) Still... The book was about copying and imitating Old Point Lace, not making it. Since it was tagged as "lace, crochet, doilies", and since it's hard to tell from the photo, it may still be crochet. There's always been quite a bit of crochet imitating various laces...
